Affordable Homes For Local People

The Liberal Democrat Council has taken action to increase the number of new homes built for rent for low income households. 30% of new houses will be “affordable” of which 25% will be for social rent and the other 5% for shared ownership.

The changes are designed to help young local people to set up home in the borough when the average house costs 6.2 times the average wage, and the cheapest properties cost £100,000

Local Councillor Sam Potts says “The need for affordable housing has never been greater. It is the only way many young singles and young families can ever hope to be housed.”
