More than 70 foster carers approved by Milton Keynes Council attended an awards evening at the end of May. The event, held at the Cruck Barn in Bradwell Abbey, celebrated the hard work and commitment of carers who have dedicated their time to fostering children and young people from Milton Keynes.

Foster carers were presented with awards for service of between one year and twenty years. One special couple, Mr and Mrs Munkley, also received a long service award to mark an impressive 25 years of fostering.

Training is a key factor in ensuring that foster carers are knowledgeable and skilled in meeting the needs of children placed in their care. The event saw a number of awards presented to foster carers who achieved NVQ level 3 in social care.

Cllr Sam Potts who is the Authority’s representative on the Fostering Panel said to the foster carers, “I want to thank you all for your valuable commitment and support to the children and young people you care for. Your hard work plays such a pivotal role in improving outcomes for them and helping them to enjoy a bright future”.
