Students in Milton Keynes’ schools are celebrating success following the publication of the GCSE and A Level results.

At “A” Level, more students than ever have achieved good passes at A*-B. Improvement at this level has risen faster than the national average, increasing by 2.5% in MK, compared with 0.2% nationally.

The number of students achieving at least 5 GCSE or equivalent at A*-C has improved from 69.5% in 2009 to 75.4% this year.

Local Lib Dem Councillor Sam Potts said, “”These results are excellent news for our young people. A good education and solid exam results are an essential foundation to give young people more control over their future and find the kind of future education and jobs that they desire. The Liberal Democrat Council has worked hard to strengthen the partnership between the local authority and schools over the last year and it is pleasing to see the result of this. Together we have high ambitions for our young people and we are still working hard to improve results further in the coming years.”

At Ousedale School, the council is investing extra money in building a new study block, to house the new Diploma in Horticulture and Environmental Science; this is part of the initiative to increase choice and raise standards even more for our 14-19 year olds
